We coordinate our efforts to become a Borough of Sanctuary through the Lewisham Migration Forum (LMF) which is chaired by Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Network.
The Forum is a space for individuals, communities, businesses, charities, universities, the Council, health providers, and more, to get together and discuss issues, share resources and collaborate on campaigns and initiatives and to make the migrant and refugee sector in the borough stronger and more effective.
The LMF is now made up of over 30 groups represented who meet regularly. The Forum is open to anyone working with migrant and refugee communities and to migrants, refugees and asylum seekers themselves.
The Forum’s priorities are to:
-
Ensure Lewisham can become a Sanctuary Borough for those seeking sanctuary (visit the campaign website)
-
Strengthen partnership and collaboration amongst groups working with and supporting migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in Lewisham
- Ensure that Lewisham Council reapplies for the Council of Sanctuary award
